Harry was Captain of the 1st Light Dragoon Guards. He married Leticia Dormer, and their son Sir Henry Cole would go on to be the first director of the V&A Museum. He died in 1863 after receiving sixteen wounds from Irish rebels who were trying to capture Dublin Castle.
